It’s no secret I love the red winged blackbird. It’s sweet song in the spring is a sure fire way to know the seasons will be changing soon. When the red winged blackbirds start to sing I frequent the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge regularly, almost daily, to capture images of this wonderful bird.
Today I opted to get a few moments of one of them singing it’s song in video. It is still early in the year, barely getting to the end of February, but the refuge is starting to fill with the sweet sound of the red winged blackbird and it will only increase as we approach spring.
This is why I love outdoor photography so much. The sounds of nature, most particularly the birds, which make the time outdoors even sweeter and spring is when the silence of winter is broken with courtship and territorial songs of many species of birds proclaiming it’s time to change the calendar to spring.
