One if the more challenging shots in bird photography is a bird in flight. It is hard to predict which way they will fly and also equally difficult to keep the focal point on the bird in flight as it moves.
The american avocet, one of my favorite birds to photograph, has always posed a challenge for me to get really great in flight shots. This morning, however, I was lucky enough to get a couple shots I think are good enough to share. Although I don’t consider them wall hangers by any means I do like how they turned out, especially considering how hard it is to get great in flight photographs of birds.
