Last week I found myself out on a birding and photography excursion. Yeah, surprising right? I wanted to get some more photographs of a singing western meadowlark but came across this sage thrasher on my travels. I think this is the second or third time I have had the opportunity to photograph a sage thrasher and this one provided a unique opportunity with it bringing back food, grasshoppers, for a nearby nest.
Whenever I see these birds they usually duck down below the bushes or fly off to a distant perch so getting a chance to photograph and watch them was an unusual treat. They do have a really remarkable song and hopefully one of these days I can catch some of it on video but for now all I can offer are a few pictures of a sage thrasher.
